KITCHEN REMODELING
In August 2006 I interviewed Jason Wood to do some remodeling to my home. At that time I knew that I wanted to update my kitchen and also do other cosmetic work to the rest of my home. From the very beginning, Jason was very knowledgeable as to what to what the newer homes featured. He had a lot of ideas and suggestions as to what would work in my home. My home is twenty two years old, so trying to update it and have the remodel blend with the rest of the house would be a challenge. Jason approached this with no problem.
We agreed on having new cabinets, countertops and appliances to be installed in the kitchen as well as a complete demolition of the existing kitchen. He replaced all the doors throughout the home, as well as the stairway going to the second level.
Whenever there was a question about how I wanted things done, he always had great solutions. Doing a large remodel to an older home like mine can sometimes create problems. Jason was very knowledgeable on how to make things work.
The project included the kitchen, complete redo of the upstairs bathroom, installation of all new lighting fixtures, new bedroom closets and shelving, and painting throughout the entire house. We came to an agreement on the price for the initial work. The addition of new projects was clearly priced before any work was done. Jason is very professional. He and his staff showed up every day on time and worked thoroughly. They always cleaned up before they left and were always on schedule. The contractors he hired to complete plumbing, electric and painting were also very dependable. His expertise in the area of carpentry was evident in the fabulous job he did on all wood work.
I would not hesitate to recommend Jason to anyone wanting information into the quality of his work. It was refreshing to enter into such a large project knowing he had the expertise to get the job done right.
I love the way my home turned out. Should I need anymore work done to my home, I would definitely hire Jason to do the work.
Sincerely,

Deck construction
I recently purchased an older home that was in need of more than just a little TLC. Although I pride myself on being a “do it yourselfer”, I knew right off that I was going to need some professional help to get this house in shape. I have always been a little leery of contractors. The few times I’ve used them I’ve experienced busted budgets and ever expanding deadlines. This time I asked around before choosing a professional to do the work, and I kept hearing the same name; Jason Wood with Wood and a Hammer. My first project was a dilapidated deck that needed replaced quickly. I thought this would be a good trial project for Wood and a Hammer, so I set up an appointment for a bid.
I was immediately impressed with the fact that Jason Wood, the owner himself, showed up, on time, for the meeting. He walked me through my choices of materials, designs, timelines, and cost. He took his time on that initial meeting to make sure all my questions were answered. I choose Wood and a Hammer over a couple other companies whose bids were extremely high or too low to be credible. I have to say I could not have been more elated with my decision. Not only was my 20’x30’ deck gorgeous, but Wood and a Hammer came in on budget and on time. And, on top of that, I liked the fact that Jason, the owner, was on the job sight everyday ensuring that the job was being done right.
When it came time to tackle the huge project of replacing the siding and windows, it was a “no brainer” on who I was calling. I have 18 windows, over half of which are floor to ceiling plate glass, that all needed replaced. The only thing keeping the existing siding from crumbling was the many coats of paint put on by previous owners. Once again Jason came up with some great ideas for the windows and especially for the siding. Knowing that I didn’t want masonite or wood siding I thought my only option was vinyl. Jason suggested a composite siding. He thought the look of the composite siding would go better with the style of the house and the surrounding houses. He brought me out samples and educated me on the material’s durability and longevity. After choosing to go with the composite siding the only big choices left were the color and the width. Again Wood and a Hammer was on budget and on time, and the results were phenomenal. My family was never displaced during the project, even when they replaced the windows. The change was so dramatic that at least six neighbors I have never met stopped and complimented the house and how quickly it was done.
I will always call Jason Wood with Wood and a Hammer for my home improvement needs. The fact that Jason stays true to his bid and his timeline is a big plus, but overall it is the quality of the work that stands out. Without hesitation I would recommend him to family, friends, and neighbors.
